Ginkaku-ji the "Temple of the Silver Pavilion" is a Zen temple in Kyoto. Its architecture and design represents the Higashiyama Culture of Muromachi period. The official name is Jisho-ji or "Temple of Shining Mercy." Its is called by its popular name "Silver Pavilion" because of initial plans to cover its exterior in silver foil which never happened.
