Keyaki Building aka Hugo Boss Building on Omotesando. The building’s structure is composed of multiple columns, resembling a torch, that are made of reinforced concrete and arranged on the outer shell. The texture on these columns was developed by pouring concrete into a wooden molds. The Keyaki Building was designed to relate to its environment in Harajuku by bringing different elements into the context, such as the vertical scale made possible by its torch shaped form provided by the concrete columns. Hugo Boss Keyaki Building is surrounded by Tod’s but in a symbiotic way. Hugo Boss building is in relationship to the Tod’s building by creating a diagonal orientation with an additional circular design maximizing the corner lot, and creates a kind of synergy with the next door neighbors’ design.
