A Haveli is a private mansion in India usually one with both historical and architectural significance; these vernacular buildings are noted for their carvings and frescos with images of: animals, gods and stories of Lords Rama and Krishna. Havelis were traditional status symbols for the Marwari, the Indian ethnic group in Rajasthan, as well as providing homes, with security in seclusion from the outside world.
